Last summer I had the great privilege to take a pause and hike the Camino de Santiago after the passing of my father. An experience like no other.
For those of you who don’t know, The Camino de Santiago is a network of ancient pilgrim routes across Europe dating back to the 9th century. All routes come together at the end in an ancient, northwestern Spanish town, Santiago de Compostela. Today, people from all over the world (and backgrounds) set out on this once-in-a-lifetime journey for primarily spiritual reasons and adventure.
I walked with two dear friends - often together but other times at our own pace. We traversed ancient villages with their cobblestone streets, muddy riverbanks in the pouring rain, fields filled with high grass, livestock and crumbling stone walls, and walked along a dramatic, rocky coastline. The trails are all well marked with the ICONIC SYMBOLS of the Camino de Santiago – the SCALLOP SHELL and YELLOW ARROW. They both were painted everywhere on trees, fences, walls etc. reassuring you that you’re on the right path.
Following this extraordinary journey, I’ve embraced these two symbols as powerful, spiritual reminders in my everyday life. I’m thrilled to now share them with all of you.
Keep persevering and never give up hope.
The shell’s rays represent life’s different paths pointing upward towards the light - a small, sparkling gem centered at the top. Similarly, the arrow charm is pointing forward. Both charms are 14k gold plate and hang from a 17” gold plate chain. Charms can also be sold separately upon request.
